Grading is the difference between a property that drains correctly for forty years and one that floods every spring. It’s also the difference between a foundation that sits on stable ground and one that settles unevenly. We take it seriously.
DLI handles both rough grading (after excavation, before construction) and finish grading (after construction, before landscaping). We shape the subgrade for foundations, driveways, parking lots, and patios. We cut drainage swales that move water where it needs to go and away from where it doesn’t.
On Long Island, drainage is everything. The water table is high, the soils vary wildly from lot to lot, and a poorly graded property can turn into a yearly problem the homeowner never escapes. Our crews — led by Louis “Louie” who’s been running his own excavation and drainage crew with us since 1992 — know how to read a site and shape it correctly.
For larger sites we use laser-grade equipment and GPS-controlled bulldozers to hold tolerances within fractions of an inch across acres. For residential lots we rely on the eye and experience of foremen who’ve been doing this for thirty years.
Every job, every scale, follows the same disciplined sequence. No surprises.
We come to you. Walk the property, understand the conditions, identify the constraints — access, utilities, drainage, neighbors.
A detailed estimate based on what we actually see — not a guess from a phone call. Every line item explained.
Equipment and crew show up when scheduled. Owned fleet means no rental-availability delays.
Site finished to spec, debris removed, ready for the next phase — whether that's our crews or someone else's.
From single-lot work to acres of bulk earthmoving — we've done it. Tell us what you're working on.
