A complete asphalt driveway installation on a Kings Point estate property — one of the most affluent neighborhoods on Long Island’s Gold Coast. The homeowner needed the existing circular driveway replaced, with the new surface meeting the kind of finish quality that the property and the neighborhood demand.
The project followed the same disciplined sequence DLI applies to every driveway, regardless of scale: remove the existing surface, prepare and compact the base, lay the asphalt in two lifts, and finish the edges cleanly against the existing Belgian-block borders and landscape features.
For a property like this, the details matter as much as the surface itself. The base prep determines whether the driveway lasts five years or twenty — properly compacted, properly graded, properly drained. The asphalt itself goes down in two courses: a base course laid at the correct depth, followed by a top course that creates the finished driving surface. Each lift is rolled and compacted before the next begins.
