Temple Israel of Great Neck, a historic congregation founded in 1948, engaged DLI to create a new exterior courtyard walkway connecting the synagogue’s main entrance to the surrounding grounds. The project called for a finished surface that would complement the building’s architecture, hold up to heavy congregational foot traffic year after year, and remain safe and even through Long Island’s freeze-thaw cycles.
We installed approximately 2,000 square feet of 32-inch by 32-inch outdoor porcelain tiles, set on a properly prepared and graded concrete base. Each tile was placed by hand with attention to joint consistency, drainage pitch, and the natural flow of pedestrian traffic through the space. The completed walkway transformed what had been a utilitarian path into one of the most striking exterior features on the property.
This project is a good example of the kind of work we love — where the masonry, concrete, and excavation crews all coordinate on a single finished result, and where the final product has to be both beautiful and built to last for decades of use.
One of the most striking exterior features on the property — and it'll be there for decades.
If you can describe it, we can probably build it. Tell us what you're working on and we'll come walk the property.
