Masonry is where DLI really shows its Italian roots. Our head mason, Freddy, was trained for years under Nicola — known to everyone in the company as “The Old Italian Mason” — who retired at 70 after a lifetime of teaching the craft the way it was meant to be taught. The skills Nicola passed on are still in our walls, our walkways, and our patios across Long Island.
We do dry-stack and mortared stone walls. We lay brick walks, brick patios, and brick aprons. We build Belgian-block driveway borders that hold their lines for forty years. We construct stone columns, outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, and chimneys. And when older Long Island estates need their original masonry restored, we know how to match the materials and the techniques.
What separates good masonry from bad is patience and proportion. The right footings, the right pattern, the right mortar, the right joint. You can’t rush stone work — and we don’t try to. Our masons take the time the work needs.
For larger projects, masonry is integrated with our concrete and excavation work — one company, one schedule, one point of accountability.
